Jobber vs Housecall Pro vs a $9 CRM for a small HVAC or plumbing shop
Jobber and Housecall Pro run the job once it is booked. A $9 CRM handles the conversations before that. Here is what each one costs and does, from their own pricing pages, and where each one is stronger.

If you run a small HVAC or plumbing shop, you have probably looked at Jobber and Housecall Pro. Both are good field-service tools. They are also not the same kind of product as a $9 CRM like Ringvance Inbox, so a straight feature-count comparison misleads. This page lays out what each one costs and includes, using each company's own pricing page (checked October 2026), and says plainly where each one is the better pick.
The short version
- Jobber and Housecall Pro run the job once it is booked: scheduling, dispatch, quotes, invoices and payments, with a field app for techs. Ringvance Inbox does none of that.
- Ringvance Inbox handles the conversations before the job exists: texts, email, Facebook and Instagram messages in one inbox, a contact list and a simple job pipeline, for $9 a month plus usage.
- Many shops can use both. There is no integration between Ringvance and either tool today, so you would run them side by side.

Jobber: where it is stronger
Jobber's cheapest plan, Core, is $49 a month month to month or $29 a month billed annually, for one user, with extra users at $29 a month each. Core already includes scheduling, quoting, invoicing, online booking and the mobile app. If your main headache is getting from "yes, come out Thursday" to a scheduled visit and a paid invoice, Jobber does that and Ringvance Inbox does not.
The catch for a shop that lives on texts: two-way text messaging is listed on the Grow plan ($199 a month, or $149 a month billed annually) and Plus, not on Core or Connect. Jobber also sells an AI receptionist as an add-on.
Housecall Pro: where it is stronger
Housecall Pro Basic is $79 a month month to month or $59 a month billed annually, for one user. Basic includes online booking, scheduling and dispatch, estimates and invoicing, payments and consumer financing, a price book, job costing and review management. Every plan includes a free iOS and Android app and live phone and chat support. Essentials is $189 a month ($149 annual) with 5 users; Max is $329 a month ($299 annual) with 8 users.
If you want reviews, booking and invoicing in one field tool, Basic covers a lot for the price. Housecall Pro sells its AI call answering (CSR AI) separately from the base plans.
Ringvance Inbox: where it fits
Ringvance Inbox is $9 a month (or $90 a year), with the $9 rate guaranteed for 24 months for founding customers. It is a CRM and one inbox: contacts, notes and a job pipeline, plus texts, email, Facebook and Instagram conversations in one place, with the free LeadConnector mobile app. An optional local business number is $2.50 a month for calls and texts, and usage (calls, texts, email) comes out of a prepaid balance. Texting needs a one-time carrier registration first ($22.50 for most small shops, plus a carrier campaign fee of $1.50 to $10.50 a month).
What it does not do today: scheduling, dispatch, invoicing, payments, online booking, review requests, missed-call text-back or any automations. Booking, missed-call text-back, follow-ups and review requests are planned for Core ($97 a month), which is coming soon and not available yet.
Which one should a small shop pick?
Pick Jobber or Housecall Pro if
- Your biggest gap is scheduling, dispatching techs, sending quotes or getting paid.
- You want online booking or review requests working this week.
- Your techs need a field app with job details, checklists and payments on site.
Pick Ringvance Inbox if
- Your gap is earlier: texts on one phone, email on another, Facebook and Instagram messages in apps nobody checks during the day.
- You want one shared place for every customer conversation and a simple pipeline, for $9.
- You already pay for a field-service tool and only need the conversation side.
Use both if
You like your field-service tool for the job itself but leads still slip through between channels before a job exists. Ringvance handles the conversation; your field tool takes over once the job is booked. There is no data sync between them today.
